Network Ten Broadcasts in November

In November, Ten showed Season Six episodes on Wednesdays, from the second half of the season, and the body of Season Four on Sundays, continuing their practice of merging adjacent episodes.

With the official ratings period for 1998 concluding at the end of November, this was the last appearance of The Simpsons in the Wednesday timeslot, replaced by repeats of Just Shoot Me! for the summer.

Foxtel Broadcasts in November

Foxtel made one fundamental change to their Simpsons line-up in November, shortening the weekend morning timeslot from three to just two hours, from the first of the month. The shorter timeslot, 9:00am to 11:00am, could fit only five episodes, rather than the seven screened previously.

However, this was more than compensated by a couple of other occurrences. First, Fox Kids, the daytime occupant of FOX8, was spun off to its own channel (32) to share with an expanded Fox History. This spelled the end of the annoying Fox Kids logo in the bottom right corner of the screen on Saturday and Sunday mornings (replaced by the transparent, and far less annoying, FOX8 logo).

Second, having acquired the rights over a month ago, Foxtel finally started screening Season Nine of The Simpsons. Sadly, the schedule shown in the Foxtel Guide was mistaken, and the new, Season Nine episodes actually screened a week earlier than shown (as announced on this website). The new episodes began screening on Saturday, 21st November, at around 9:48am.

In the meantime, the weekday stream was showing most of Season Six and into Season Seven. The weekend morning stream screened from the end of Season Seven to half-way through Season Nine, making good progress despite the reduced timeslot. Saturday evenings showed the start of Season Eight; and Sunday evenings, the end of Season Six and the start of Season Seven (including Who Shot Mr Burns?).
