Broadcast History for February

The return of ratings spawned a cornucopia of Simpsons on Ten. On Wednesday, 10th February, Season Ten started screening in the 7:30pm timeslot. Naturally, the interseason episode, Lard of the Dance (5F20), managed to fall through the cracks and won't appear until later, but at least the Hallowe'en episode aired in its rightful spot in the screening order. On Sundays, the 7:30pm merged, double timeslot was a mess. Mostly, episodes were aired from the end of Season Seven, but some Season Four and Eight episodes also snuck in. Finally, in a late scheduling change unannounced in most TV guides, Ten resumed stripping The Simpsons, weekdays at 7:00pm -- directly opposite FOX8's weekday evening screening! Of couse, with Foxtel's morning timeslot, it's easy to catch both. Stripping returned on Monday, 15th February, starting with Lisa's Substitute (7F19) and continuing into Season Three.

Foxtel Broadcasts in February

Foxtel's weekend morning stream of The Simpsons had a traumatic month in February. At the start of the month, it was pruned back to four episodes in each two hour timeslot, meaning longer, more predictable (and less messy) ad breaks. But it seems this required too many ads, and a fifth episode was reintroduced on Saturday, 20th February. Fortunately, these extra episodes were taken from the start of Season Three, so as not to disturb the running order printed in the Foxtel Guide. The whole experience hasn't been entirely wasted, either: the weekend mornings stream is looking a lot tidier since the changes, with no more 15 second ad breaks. In the end, apart from the Season Three episodes, most of Season Five and half of Season Six aired in this timeslot. The other three streams continued much as before. Weekdays, we saw the end of Season Eight and a goodly half of Season Nine, the first time it's screened in this timeslot and the second time on Foxtel. Saturday evenings saw a handful of mid-Season Eight episodes; Sunday evenings, episodes earlier in Season Eight. The latter two streams will cross and start to diverge in May.
