Network Ten Broadcasts in July

Five more episodes from Season Nine graced our screens this month, finishing with The Simpsons' 200th episode: Trash of the Titans. Meanwhile, merged repeats from Seasons Eight and Seven continued on Sundays, although this actually included the first two non-Hallowe'en episodes of Season Eight, which Ten considers to be part of the previous season. Even so, Season Seven repeats ran out with one episode of Season Eight still to go (Ten counts 4F21 part of Season Nine, for now); the slack was filled with the first episode of Season Five on 26th July. In addition, on Sunday, 5th July, Ten decided to screen a Simpsons special from 8:30pm to 10:45pm. Inexplicably, there was considerable confusion as to when the special would actually finish, with different publications, and even different station ads suggesting different times. In the end, they all got it wrong! The special was presented by Brooke Satchwell and Jessie Spencer, from Neighbours, sitting on a couch in their pajamas and gorging on junk food. Only four episodes of The Simpsons were shown, one each from Seasons Two, Three, Four and Seven. In between, we were shown an interesting set of behind-the-scenes interviews with cast and crew from the show (unfortunately only five minutes' worth), then later, an animated interview between Oprah and the Simpson family. This was apparently quite old.

All four streams of The Simpsons continued to screen on FOX8 in July. The only scheduling change was the dropping of the 11:30pm weekday repeat timeslot from Monday, 6th July, leaving only the Sunday stream with repeat timeslots. The weekday stream screened episodes from the middle of Seasons Two to Three. Saturday and Sunday mornings showed all of Seasons Five and Six, and into Season Seven. Saturday evenings saw episodes from early in Season Seven; Sunday evenings, from the middle of Season Eight.
