Broadcast History for December

As usual, December was something of a drought month for The Simpsons on Ten, with just the Sunday double repeat timeslot continuing through the summer. The episodes shown spanned the last part of Season Four. Of course, the opportunities of the Christmas season were not to be neglected, so on Sunday, 20th December, Ten screened the first two Simpsons Christmas specials, Marge Be Not Proud (3F07) and Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire (7G08).

Foxtel Broadcasts in December

On Foxtel in December, there were a couple of minor deviations from the established screening schedule, all associated with Christmas. On Christmas Eve, The Simpsons Christmas Special (7G08) screened in the weekday timeslot, however there was no Simpsons on Christmas Day, pre-empted by the FOX8 Christmas Stocking (a selection of episodes from FOX8's best evening soapies). On Monday, 28th December, the weekday stream continued where it had left off, though skipping Bart on the Road (3F17). In the meantime, Boxing Day (Saturday, 26th December) was designated Swashbuckler Saturday in order to promote the movie, The Mask of Zorro. The promotion started with Highlander at 5:00pm, then continued at 6:00pm with three selected episodes of The Simpsons (pre-empting Baywatch). The scheduled episode (Lisa's Date with Density) vanished without trace. Across the month, the weekday stream screened most of Season Seven, weekend mornings aired the remainder of the new-to-cable Season Nine episodes, then Season One and most of Season Two. Weekend evenings showed part of Season Eight on Saturdays and part of Season Seven on Sundays.
